27A – Reading Reflection No. 3

I have decided to choose the book How to fail at almost everything and still win by Scott Adams from the reading list.

*What was the general theme or argument of the book?

The book basically said that having only one goal is for loser people. The only way to be successful is to have multiple projects/goals. You have to try all your projects until one of it is achieved. That is what really matters.

*How did the book in your opinion, connected with an enhance what you are learning in ENT3003?

The book has definitely made me consider being a little more selfish about some stuff I did not know. I have to take care of my self and chase all the goals i want.

*If you had to design an exercise for this class, based on the book you read, what would that exercise involve?

An exercise that involves students setting at least 10 goals, and at the end of the week students have to come up with how they will chase those goals, strategies etc.

*What was your biggest surprise or 'aha' moment when reading the book? in other words, what did you learn that differed most from your expectations?

It made me realize a lot of things that changed the point of view i have. My aha moment was when "Grab failure by the throat and squeeze it until it coughs up a hairball of success". You have to try and always learn from failure even if seems everything bad, there is always something good to learn. Luck can be managed, sort of.

  1. Sebastian,

I think your exercise tailored for this class would be fun. The exercise would also give people vision. Once goals are written down, the next step is a plan. Your designed exercise requires you to do both. I feel like this will give students a realization of what goals they really want to accomplish over others. Also, great choice of book. The title of the book has me tempted to add it to my collection.
